DESCRIPTION:Montana’s independent rural telephone companies provide service covering over 80 percent of the state’s geography\, or nearly 120\,000 square miles\, and about 30% of Montana’s telecommunications service consumers. The combination of tremendous areas served and low population density means that the average rural Montana telephone company serves fewer than 2.8 access lines per mile of line. (Montana’s cooperatives serve fewer than 1.6 access lines per mile.)

SUMMARY:SDTA 2015 Fall Plant & Technology Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In an industry where technology and service demands constantly change\, the South Dakota Telecommunications Association is an essential resource for its members in regulatory and legislative advocacy. SDTA’s membership is comprised of South Dakota’s cooperative\, small commercial\, municipal and tribal telecommunications companies. These companies provide broadband\, telephone and video services to approximately three-quarters of South Dakota’s land mass.\nThe priority of our association is to help craft public policy that allows our rural company members to effectively deliver state-of-the-art communications services to every community they serve. We also provide educational and training opportunities on the newest and best technologies available – all in an effort to assist our member companies in their efforts to bring the best service possible to their customers and communities.
