DESCRIPTION:The Texas Telephone Association\, Inc.\, (TTA) founded in 1905. TTA is the trade association that supports the incumbent local exchange telephone companies of Texas . The incumbent local exchange telephone companies-or ILECs-are the original wire-line telephone companies. They are the primary service providers to the residents and business communities of Texas. There are 54 incumbent local exchange telephone companies–large and small–providing local exchange service to more than 13 million access lines in 1\,244 exchanges across Texas . The majority of our member companies serve fewer than 5\,000 customers each\, and more than one-third of these companies are member-owned telephone cooperatives.   The mission of the TTA is to promote and enhance the performance of each member company and protect the integrity of the local exchange telephone industry and the services offered within each company’s certificated exchange areas within the State of Texas. All TTA members are committed to a code of ethics based upon the premise that the primary product provided is service to their customers.
