Hybrid LTE-M + Iridium® SBD IoT Gateway
The BEC MX-340-IRD is a hybrid industrial IoT gateway combining LTE-M cellular connectivity with Iridium® Short Burst Data® (SBD®) satellite communications and integrated GNSS. It is designed for remote and distributed applications where terrestrial cellular coverage may be unavailable or unreliable.
In most deployments, LTE-M serves as the primary connection, with automatic failover to Iridium® SBD when cellular service is unavailable and failback when service is restored. The preferred communications path can also be user-selected for specific deployment requirements. Application-aware satellite data handling prioritizes and forwards critical information such as alarms, telemetry, equipment status, GNSS location, selected Modbus or DNP3 data, and customer-defined payloads.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet, serial connectivity, and digital I/O provide flexible options for connecting field equipment such as RTUs, controllers, and sensors. BECentral® CloudEdge provides centralized remote management, while the rugged industrial design supports deployment in utility, energy, transportation, and industrial environments.
